Team India has won the three-match ODI series against South Africa. Earlier, the three-match T20 series was tied at 1-1. The visiting team, led by KL Rahul, managed to defeat South Africa without most of its regular players, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. India has won the series in South Africa after 2018
KL Rahul has become the second Indian captain after Virat Kohli to lead the country to an ODI series win in South Africa. Earlier in 2018, India had won the series in Rainbow Nation. There was a moment in the third ODI match which went viral all over social media. Keshav Maharaj was batting in the second innings of the match, while KL Rahul was standing behind the wicket. The host team had scored 177 runs for six wickets in 33.2 overs.
‘Ram Siya Ram’ tune played in Boland Park
As soon as Keshav Maharaj got ready to bat, the song ‘Ram Siya Ram, Siya Ram Jai Jai Ram’ started playing on the speakers at Boland Park. Rahul told Keshav Maharaj that whenever he comes to bat, this song always plays. Keshav Maharaj nodded ‘yes’ and then both of them started smiling. After being invited to bat first in the match, India scored 296 runs after a shaky start.
Rajat Patidar got a chance in place of Gaikwad
Rajat Patidar, who came to the crease as an opening batsman in place of injured Ruturaj Gaikwad, could not play a big innings. India lost both openers Rajat Patidar and Sai Sudarshan on the score of 34 runs. After this, Sanju Samson came to bat at number three and made a fifty-run partnership with captain KL Rahul at the other end. After Rahul’s dismissal, young Tilak Verma fully supported Samson and made a partnership of 116 runs. Samson scored his first ODI century.
India bowled out South Africa for 218 runs.
In reply, the entire South African team collapsed on the score of 218 with 25 balls remaining. Although opener Tony de Jorzi, who scored a century in the second match, once again troubled the Indian bowlers, Arshdeep gave India its first success by dismissing his partner. Arshdeep also dismissed Jorji on his personal score of 81 runs.
