Amazon India starts special program for specially abled people

Amazon India today announced the launch of a program called ‘Aurora’ for gifted people with learning disabilities. Under this program, the talent of these people will be honed and they will be provided employment. According to a statement from Amazon India, the e-commerce company introduced this program at the initial level with Mumbai-based non-profit organization Soul ARC. Through this, youth will be deployed in the company’s ‘delivery’ stations of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad.

An initiative towards creating an equitable workplace

Apart from providing employment to these people, the program ‘Aurora’ will also focus on basic work and creation of support system. Like increasing awareness among employees and motivating them to become allies of people with disabilities. Liju Thomas, Director (HR Operations), Amazon India, said, we believe that diversity in the workplace helps create a better, more inclusive environment. We are committed to working towards creating opportunities for underrepresented groups.
