Nitin Gadkari News: India has overtaken China by adding 1.45 lakh km of road network since 2014 and has secured the second position in terms of road network in the world. After America, India has come second in the world in terms of road network. Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that under the development works done by the Modi government in the last nine years, India’s road network has increased by 59 percent to reach the second place in the world after America.

So many roads were built in nine years

Gadkari said that at present the country’s road network is about 1,45,240 km whereas in the financial year 2013-14 it was only 91,287 km. Thus, there has been a high growth of 59 percent in the country’s road network during the last nine years. In a press conference organized on the achievements of nine years of the Modi government, he said that today India’s road network has reached the second place in the world after America. During this, India also set seven world records in the field of road construction.

Toll revenue also increased

Gadkari said that the revenue from toll has also increased from Rs 4,770 crore to Rs 41,342 crore in the last nine years. He said that the intention of the government is to reach toll revenue to Rs 1.30 lakh crore by the year 2030. According to a PTI-language report, he said that the waiting time of vehicles at the toll plaza has come down to 47 seconds due to the use of FASTag system for toll collection. He said that the government is taking some more steps to bring this time within 30 seconds.
