Vodafone Idea owes about Rs 7,000 crore to Indus Towers. Indus Towers has threatened that if the company does not pay its dues quickly, it will not be given access to the towers from November. This means that the network will be closed for Vodafone Idea customers.
VI is the main customer of Indus Towers and the company’s network works on it. Let us tell you that 3 out of every 5 calls made in India are made through Indus Towers. The company’s network is spread across the country. Indus Towers provides infrastructure to other telecom operators including VI, with the help of which the networks of telecom companies are available across the country.
Indus Towers has told TRAI that the company may stop providing network support to VI because Vodafone Idea has not paid the loan. According to reports, VI has a loan of Rs 7864.5 crore with interest, but the company is unable to pay it. This is the reason why Indus Towers Company may stop network support of VI.
Indus has clearly told TRAI that if VI does not pay, Indus will approach the court. Along with this, it can also stop the telecom service provided to VI users through it. If this happens, 22 crore VI users in the country will be harmed. Network access on their mobile may stop.
