These calls claim to cause disruption in India’s stock exchanges and trading. The Department of Telecommunications has said that such fake calls are made by anti-national elements, whose intention is only to spread panic.

The Department of Telecommunications has warned people against calls made from international numbers giving false information about Indian stock markets. People have been asked to report such cases to telecom operators.

According to the official release, this type of ‘call’ made with ulterior motives can be made by anti-national elements. Their aim is to create a situation of chaos. Telecom companies have been asked to block the phone numbers associated with such ‘calls’.

On social media platform ‘X’, the Department of Telecommunications warned the public against international numbers spreading misinformation about Indian stock markets. The department has written, in the recorded message, the sinking of BSE and NSE (National Stock Exchange) has been claimed and people have been urged to sell Indian shares before March 12.

The release said that citizens, upon receiving such calls, are advised to inform the Department of Telecommunications at ‘help-sancharsathi@gov.in’ or the concerned telecom service providers. (with language input)
