Patna. Telecom company Bharti Airtel is now preparing to install Airtel Smart Meter in Bihar. For this, Airtel has tied up with Narrow Band NB-IoT. With its partnership, smart meters will be installed in 13 lakh houses in Bihar. On Monday announced a partnership with Secure Meters to provide ‘Narrow Band Internet of Things’ (NB-IoT) services to 13 lakh homes by installing smart meters in Bihar. NB-IoT is a radio network technology with low power consumption and large area coverage. With its help, services and internet-based products like smart meters can be operated.

Very secure meter in terms of security

Announcing the partnership with Secure Meters, the company said in a statement that it would be the first NB-IoT solution available on narrow band in the country. It will work on 2G and 4G spectrum and will be helpful in providing real-time access and seamless transfer of critical data. Describing its NB-IoT as a future-ready platform, Bharti Airtel said that it can also be adapted to 5G technology.

Airtel growing fast

Airtel Business Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ajay Chitkara told news agencies that IoT is the fastest growing business of Airtel. We have emerged as a preferred partner for distribution companies looking to invest in smart meters, he said.
