Agra : A divisional level workshop on Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti schemes was organized in Agra with the support of UNICEF. In which the priority of protection and rehabilitation of destitute children and women was discussed. In the workshop, Divisional Commissioner Ritu Maheshwari and Additional Director General of Police Agra Zone Anupam Kulshrestha inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. A short film based on Mission Vatsalya was screened in the divisional level workshop on Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti schemes in collaboration with UNICEF. Three sessions on women and child development were organized in the program. Besides, quizzes and group discussions were also held in the open session. Information about government schemes and programs for women and child development was given at the venue through attractive selfie points, standees and hoardings of various schemes, pamphlets and displays.

Brainstorming on lack of public awareness

The Divisional Commissioner, who was present as the chief guest, said that Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti are umbrella schemes related to boys, girls and women. Clarifying the objective of these schemes, he said that this scheme is to keep all the stakeholders safe and empower them by standing on their feet. During Navratri, Mission Shakti and related departments did good work in this area. And conducted information and awareness campaigns about the schemes. But currently there is a lack of publicity and public awareness on the ground such as justice, gram panchayat and municipality level.

Operation Mission Jagriti was discussed

The Divisional Commissioner said that not just one department but all the concerned departments should work in a coordinated manner to create awareness about the schemes. All the officers present in the workshop should take the information themselves and take it to the grassroots level. He said that the government’s scheme satiates all the cycles from birth to death. But there is more need for implementation and promotion of schemes. At the same time, he appealed to break the silence and raise voice. Operation Mission Jagriti has also been run by the police department. Now the police department is also playing an active role. Earlier there was lack of communication even in the police department.

Additional Director General of Police, Agra Zone, Anupam Kulshrestha, present in the workshop, said that the government has run Mission Vatsalya for children and Mission Shakti for women for their all-round development. Such children who lost their parents during Corona are being given social, educational care and upbringing in every way. Take Matru Vandana Yojana, mass marriage, destitute women, Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana to the last person. The police department is also giving information about the schemes by setting up chaupals in the village. To make women and children safe, capable and powerful, the police has started a 3-month long Operation Jagriti from October 20. We are running awareness programs on issues like sexual crimes, cyber bullying, domestic violence etc. up to the Gram Panchayat level.
