After Nalanda, DM of Patna also ignored KK Pathak’s order, extended school holidays till this day

In view of the cold in the capital Patna, the Patna district administration has issued instructions to keep studies up to class eight in the Sabha government and private schools (including pre-schools and Anganwadi centers) of the district till January 23. The DM of Patna has issued this order a day after the letter of Additional Chief Secretary of Education Department KK Pathak was issued. Whereas, after the release of the letter of Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, KK Pathak, DMs of many districts of the state have withdrawn their order to keep schools closed due to cold wave. In fact, in a letter written to all the divisional commissioners on Saturday, KK Pathak had talked about ending the tradition of closing schools on regular basis.

Patna district administration has directed to keep schools as well as coaching classes up to class eight closed. Classes from class nine onwards will be held in schools from 9 am to 3:30 pm. DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh has issued an order in this regard on Sunday. Conducting special classes with adequate precautions for board exams will remain free from this. Earlier, an order had been issued to stop all studies up to class eight from January 17 to January 20.

What instructions did KK Pathak give to the administration?

Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, KK Pathak has written a letter to all the Divisional Commissioners saying that when an order is issued by the district administration to close schools during Sheetalhar, it should be implemented equally in the entire district. He has requested that wherever the order to close schools due to cold wave has been issued recently, it should be withdrawn.

The tradition of closing schools on every issue should end.

As far as government schools are concerned, this department has fixed the timings of these schools from nine o’clock to five o’clock. Before issuing any order regarding changing this time, prior permission of the Education Department must be obtained. The tradition of keeping schools closed every now and then should be stopped.

Does cold wave fall only in schools?

KK Pathak has said that the kind of order passed by the District Magistrate is under Section 144. In it only the school has been closed, but other institutions and matters have not been mentioned. Like the activities or timings of coaching institutes, cinema halls, malls, shops, commercial institutes etc. have not been controlled. In such a situation, the district administration can be asked that what kind of cold, cold wave is this, which falls only in schools and not in coaching institutes. In these coaching classes, children from our own schools study from classes 4 to 12.

Schools up to 8th in Nalanda closed till 23rd

In view of the cold wave, District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar has for the fourth time directed to postpone the education of students from class 1 to class 8 in all government and private schools of the district till January 23.
