After the formal conclusion of Navratri festival in Arrah city, Maa Durga was bid farewell with much fanfare on Wednesday. As per the years-long tradition of immersing the idol of Mother Goddess on the second day of Vijayadashami, she was bid farewell today.

On Wednesday, after formally fulfilling the wishes of Maa Durga, the female devotees worshiped her and then bid farewell to Maa Durga. After this, dancing to the DJ tunes and devotional songs, the group of puja committee members set out to immerse the idol of the Mother Goddess in the river. According to religious beliefs, the Khoichha is duly filled before the daughter’s farewell.

The members of the puja committee came out with much fanfare to immerse the idol of Maa Durga installed in the puja pandal at Bank Colony turn, the main gate of Arrah city.

The district administration has also made security arrangements where the idol of Maa Durga will be immersed. Police forces along with magistrates have also been deputed at various places at the immersion sites.

Puja committee convenor Chandan Kumar said that after the formal farewell ritual, the idol will be immersed in the river. Here, for the last 8 years, the idol of Maa Durga has been installed in a similar pandal.

On the day of Vijayadashami, Bhojpuri’s power star Pawan Singh had come to this puja pandal to have darshan of the goddess. Where Mata was given a warm welcome by giving her Chunri and Prasad. The Bhojpuri superstar was very happy to see the arrangements here and thanked the puja committee members.
