The city has got 170 e-buses in the Kanpur Smart City Project. These buses will be run on 10 new routes. At present, a total of 99 e-buses are operating in the city. Seeing the increasing load of passengers in e-buses, their number has been increased. By plying on new routes, the people of rural areas will also be able to enjoy AC buses. These buses have been allotted to Kanpur City Transport Company Limited a day in advance. These new e-buses will reach Kanpur by 31st August.

250 buses were demanded

Please tell that Kanpur City Transport had demanded 250 e-buses anyway. It was decided that if so many buses are available then their operation will start on 38 routes of the city. Ten routes will be interstate in this. Currently, e-buses are operating on only two interstate routes. Confirming the allocation of 170 buses, management officials said that new buses will join the fleet of e-buses in two and a half to three months. Passenger load in e-buses is increasing continuously. The proof of this is that the daily passenger load in March was about 13 thousand, in April, 14 and in May this load has increased to about 17 thousand. DV Singh, the officer-in-charge of the roadways, told that the passenger load has increased due to the heat. As soon as the allocated buses are received, they will be operated on more selected routes of the city.
