Another woman was fraudulently using the registration number of the scooter of the wife of an Income Tax Department officer working here. When the matter came to light, the police arrested him.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, Sanjay Thakur Katekar, who works in the Income Tax Department of Mumbai, bought the scooter in his wife’s name in 2017. After purchasing this scooter, his wife would rarely go out of the house with it, but recently she started receiving e-challan messages from the Mumbai Traffic Police for violating traffic rules. However, he was not aware of the violation of traffic rules. Therefore, he did not have any kind of doubt, because the number of his wife’s scooter was in the message coming from the traffic police. Like a civilized citizen, he paid the fine.
After paying the fine, messages started coming again
The matter did not stop here. After Income Tax Department officer Sanjay Thakur Katekar paid the fine for violation of traffic rules, he again started receiving messages from the traffic police and the fine amount reached about Rs 3800. Seeing this he was shocked. After this he contacted the traffic police. Meanwhile, he also received a notice to appear in Lok Adalat. After this he decided that when he is not using his scooter, then where are the cases of violation of traffic rules coming from. He thought that once or twice the rules may be violated by mistake, but this cannot happen again and again. The biggest thing is that his scooter does not leave the house, so how are the challans being issued. There was a doubt in his mind whether his car number was being used by some other person? So, he set out to find out.
This is how fraud was detected
After this, Sanjay Thakur Katekar reached the South Mumbai police station with the details of the e-challan. After a lot of investigation, it was found that the number of his scooter was being used by a 43 year old woman living in CP Tank, South Mumbai. After locating the woman, the police reached the place where the woman lived. After reaching the spot, he was identified as Pinal Naveenbhai Parikh. Azad Maidan police immediately arrested him.
Arrested, police registered a case
An officer of Azad Maidan police station said that on the complaint of traffic policeman Sunil Manjrekar of Azad Maidan Traffic Division, we have registered a case against Pinal Naveenbhai Parikh under sections 420 (cheating), 473 (making or possessing a fake seal with intent to do so etc.) Have done.
