Shahrukh Khan created a stir at the box office in 2023 with both his blockbuster films – Pathan and Jawan. The actor scored a hat-trick with Dunki.
Shahrukh Khan’s Dinky earned Rs 3.5 crore on Saturday. This film directed by Rajkumar Hirani has so far collected Rs 212.22 crore in India. At the same time, the film’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment recorded earnings of Rs 422.99 crore for Dunky at the global box office.
The comedy-drama is the first collaboration between Shahrukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani. The film also stars Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles.
In Donkey, Shahrukh Khan played the role of Hardayal Singh Dhillon aka Hardy and Taapsee Pannu played the role of Manu Randhawa. Vicky Kaushal has played the role of Sukhi and Boman Irani has played the role of Geetu Gulati.
Rajkumar Hirani shared pictures of Dunky’s success party on his social media handle and wrote, “Thank you all for giving your immense love to the film Dunky and making it a blockbuster success.”
Dunki has not matched the box office performance of Rajkumar Hirani’s previous films like Sanju and PK, which had earned Rs 588 crore and Rs 769.89 crore worldwide.
Dunky has earned Rs 400 crore worldwide. The film has become Khan’s fourth highest-grossing film, surpassing Khan’s 2015 film Dilwale.
It is noteworthy that Shahrukh’s three highest grossing films are Jawan, Pathan and Chennai Express. Both Jawan and Pathan, released in 2023, have earned more than Rs 1 billion at the worldwide box office.
Donkey stars Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover. The story of the film is about three friends, who want to go to London at any cost. Shahrukh Khan helps him in this.
Earlier, in an interview with News 18, Hirani revealed that Shah Rukh already knew that Dunky would not be able to make money like his previous action films Jawan and Pathan.
Shahrukh Khan is preparing for his next project these days. However, he has not yet announced whether he will work in any film now.
