96 thousand cubic feet of water released from Durgapur Barrage, danger of flood in seven districts, fear of damage to crops.

Due to the rains in West Bengal for the past several days, where the lower areas of the city are facing the problem of water logging, on the other hand Durgapur Barrage 96 thousand cusecs of water has been released from Durgapur Barrage. Due to release of water from the barrage, the possibility of water logging in many districts of South Bengal has increased. Which may affect people living in flat areas. Due to increase in water level, the possibility of water logging in Damodar Mana, Shyampur, Mana Basti and Waria villages situated on the banks of the barrage has increased. Irrigation Department officials said that due to excessive rains in Bengal and Jharkhand recently, water was released from Maithon and Panchet Dams. After this, 96 thousand cusecs of water was released by opening the lockgate of Durgapur Barrage. Due to which water filling has started in seven districts adjacent to Durgapur. Apart from Bankura, East and West Burdwan, Hooghly and Howrah districts are likely to be affected by the water released from the barrage. There is a possibility that agriculture will also be affected due to continuous flooding.
