7 years imprisonment to mother-in-law and father-in-law found guilty of killing and burning daughter-in-law for Bolero

Vikas Kumar, Koderma: While hearing the case of murder of a married woman for dowry, Koderma Additional District and Sessions Judge sentenced the accused to seven years imprisonment. This hearing took place on Thursday in the court of Judge Ajay Kumar Singh. The names of the accused are Saryu Yadav and Sunita Devi. The accused are the in-laws and father-in-law of the deceased married woman. The court had already sentenced him to three years under 201/34 IPC. Apart from this, the accused will also have to pay a fine of five thousand rupees. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional punishment of six months. All these punishments will run concurrently.

what is the whole matter

The matter is of the year 2022. Regarding the incident, the deceased’s father Koleshwar Yadav had registered a case under case number 127/22 in Satgawan police station. While applying in the police station, he had said that his daughter Mamta Devi was married to his father Saryu Yadav, resident of Satgawan, Bablu Yadav in the year 2018. She remained fine for a few days after the marriage. During this time he had two daughters. After this the in-laws started demanding a Bolero car as dowry. When we expressed our inability, my in-laws started harassing my daughter. Many meetings were held in the Panchayat regarding this. but to no avail.

The villagers called and told – your daughter is not well.

On October 24, 2022, the villagers called that your daughter was unwell. After getting information about this, I immediately reached my in-laws’ house on my motorcycle, but there was no one there. Later it was revealed that his daughter’s in-laws had murdered her and burnt the body in order to destroy the evidence.

10 witnesses were examined during the hearing

After the case was registered in the police station, hearing was held in the court under ST-94/22. The prosecution was conducted by public prosecutor Angelina Barla. During this period all 10 witnesses were examined. Considering the seriousness of the crime, the Public Prosecutor urged the court to give maximum punishment to the accused. Advocate Anwar Hussain presented arguments on behalf of the defense side. After examining all the witnesses and evidence, the court found the accused guilty and imposed a fine. It may be noted that the court has already sentenced the deceased’s husband in this case.
