7 laborers from Bihar died in Karnataka, lost their lives due to being buried in a pile of 100 ton maize, police rescued one

A major accident has taken place in Aliabad Industrial Area of ​​Vijayapura, Karnataka. Many workers were buried under a pile of 100 tonnes of maize due to damage to a big machine in the warehouse of a private food processing unit here. After this incident, rescue work was started but by then seven workers living in different districts of Bihar died due to being buried. All of them died due to suffocation due to being buried under the sacks. Police gave information about this matter on Tuesday.

Police rescued a laborer

Giving information in this regard on Tuesday, Vijaypura Superintendent of Police Sonawane Rishikesh Bhagwan said that apart from the buried laborers, three people have been injured in this incident. One of the buried people was saved, while seven laborers died. The incident happened on Monday evening. The police officer said that during the search and rescue operation, bodies of seven laborers were taken out while one person was saved.

Died after being buried under 100 tons of corn

Another senior police officer said that the chimneys installed in the processing machine become very heavy after being filled with maize. Due to its partial collapse, the workers working below were buried. These workers got buried under 100 tons of corn, due to which they died. The search and rescue operation started around 6 pm on Monday evening and continued till 11 am on Tuesday.

The bodies of all the laborers were taken out from under the sack.

Vijayapura district in-charge minister MB Patil, who reached the spot regarding this accident, has said that the bodies of all the laborers have been taken out from under the sack. He said that the local administration is with the families of the workers on this tragic incident. Our efforts will be to take the dead bodies of the workers to Bihar and their families. Besides, the government and the warehouse owner will also be asked to pay compensation.
