A four foot over bridge will be constructed on Bailey Road, one of the busiest roads of Patna. This bridge will be built near Punaichak, Zoo Gate Number 1, Planetarium and Saguna Mod. Apart from this, it was also decided to build a foot over bridge in Kankarbagh. The design of these over bridges will be similar to the foot over bridge built on Atal Path. Along with this, for the convenience of the common people, a lift will also be installed on the footover bridge near Patna Women’s College. Not only this, the speed limit on Atal Path has also been set afresh.

Transport department meeting to reduce road accidents

In fact, on Saturday, on the instructions of the Supreme Court committee constituted on road safety, the Transport Department held a review meeting with the Road Construction Department, Traffic BSRDC and District Administration to reduce the increasing road accidents in Patna and to facilitate pedestrians to cross the road. of. State Transport Commissioner Vishal Raj, Municipal Commissioner Animesh Parashar, Superintendent of Police Traffic Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Superintending Engineer, Road Construction Dhananjay Kumar Bampat, Additional Collector, Law and Order Rajesh Roshan etc. were present in this meeting.

Giving information about the meeting, Transport Secretary Sanjay Aggarwal said that in the recent meeting of Bihar Road Safety Council, budget has been allocated for the construction of foot over bridge and under pass. From the road safety point of view, a need is being felt to build foot over bridges at five other places including Nehru Marg (Bailey Road).

Speed ​​limit fixed on Atal Path

During the meeting, road accidents happening on Atal Path were discussed. It was told that due to high speed on Atal Path, road accidents keep happening every day. For this reason the speed limit has been re-set. The Secretary has said that the speed has been fixed at 70 kilometers per hour for four-wheelers and normal vehicles, 50 kilometers per hour for buses and 30 kilometers per hour for three-wheelers and autos. Along with this, speed cameras will be monitored and drivers who exceed the prescribed speed limit will be strictly fined.

Steem sought for construction of foot over bridge

The Transport Secretary said that instructions were given to immediately prepare estimates and designs for the construction of foot over bridges at the identified places. Once the design is received, it will be requested for approval from the Election Commission

Road safety related problems will be solved

The Transport Secretary has asked the department to provide information about where there are problems on the roads in terms of road safety and what could be the solution. The solution will be found through joint inspection of such roads and intersections through Bihar Road Safety Council.

Municipal Corporation will maintain the lift and pay the electricity bill.

After getting consent from the Road Construction Department, the Municipal Corporation has taken the responsibility of maintenance of foot over bridge, maintenance of lift and payment of electricity bill. Municipal Commissioner Animesh Parashar said that the Municipal Corporation will do this work from the point of view of the safety of the citizens. For this, its maintenance will be done through outsourcing agency. This will be compensated from advertising income.

Instructions to study the causes of the accident

The Secretary of Transport Department directed SP Traffic Patna to conduct a detailed study of the causes of accidents on Bailey Road, Atal Path, Ganga Path and to provide the report soon on whatever resources are required to reduce road accidents. At the same time, instructions have been given to speed up the system of issuing challans through CCTV cameras.
