More than 24 thousand seats are vacant in girls residential schools of the state. There are 260 girls residential schools running for girls in the state. These include 203 Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ Schools and 57 Jharkhand Girls’ Residential Schools. Kasturba Gandhi Girls School is jointly run by the Central and State Governments. Whereas, Jharkhand Girls Residential School is run by the state government. There are arrangements for a total of 1,26,525 girl students to study in the school. Of these, currently 1,02,216 girl students are enrolled. There are 24309 seats vacant in schools. According to the report sent by the districts to the Department of School Education and Literacy, a total of 19513 seats are vacant in Kasturba Gandhi Girls School and 4796 seats are vacant in Jharkhand Girls Residential School. There is a provision for enrollment of a total of 106575 girl students in Kasturba Gandhi Girls School, whereas at present a total of 87062 girl students are enrolled in the school. At the same time, 15154 girl students are enrolled in Jharkhand Girls Residential School against total 19950 seats. Both schools offer education from classes 6 to 12. Enrollment is taken in schools in class six. Apart from this, nominations are taken in other classes also if seats remain vacant.
