2000 Rs. Note Scam: Banned Rs 2000 notes seized in Patna

2000 Rs. Note Scam: An amount of Rs 9 lakh 74 thousand was seized today in Bihar’s capital Patna, which was in the form of demonetised Rs 2000 notes. Actually, a scam was going on here to exchange the demonetised Rs 2000 notes. In this case, Lucknow Military Intelligence had received information about exchange of Rs 5 crore notes. Based on this secret information, the Intelligence team conducted a raid and arrested 12 people involved in it along with Rs 2000 notes.

Lucknow Military Intelligence team had already received confidential information about this. The Intelligence team then planned and based on the tip received, raided room number 208 of Patliputra Heritage Apartment near Patliputra Junction, under Patliputra police station of the capital Patna, and recovered a total of Rs 9 lakh 74 thousand in the form of demonetised notes of Rs 2000 from the spot. 2000 rupee note came into circulation after demonetization implemented in 2016

Demonetization was implemented by the then central government in the year 2016. During this period, old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes were discontinued and Rs 2000 notes were introduced into circulation.

Rs 2000 note discontinued again in 2023

Last year, on May 19, 2023, the Reserve Bank of India again demonetized Rs 2000 notes. But this time demonetization was a bit convenient. Actually, before removing Rs 2000 notes from circulation in the market, the government had stopped the circulation of these notes through banks.
