15 brokers including 3 officers arrested for arranging 240 fake marriages in mass marriages in UP, investigation continues

On Wednesday evening, the police took into custody the table in-charge of the mass marriage scheme of the Social Welfare Department. The police knocked again on Thursday and took away many documents related to the scheme. District Social Welfare Officer Deepak Srivastava said that whatever documents are being asked for by the police for the investigation are being made available. As soon as the police arrived on the second day, there was restlessness among the employees of social welfare as well as other departments. In the evening the DM and SP revealed the entire matter. In the investigation conducted so far, 15 people including three officers and employees have been arrested. However, investigation is still going on. A case was registered against a total of nine people including an ADO at Maniyar police station in connection with the fraud that took place in a mass marriage two days ago.

By late night on Wednesday, the police knocked at many villages and detained 12 people from different villages. Seeing the action of officials and police in the fraud in mass marriage scheme, many brokers have gone underground. CDO Ojasvi Raj said that it is difficult for those whose names will be revealed to survive. A total of 240 ineligible names have emerged in the investigation so far. However, investigation is still going on. The police also detained two ADOs and a counter in-charge and interrogated them. Maniyar Block’s ADO Social Welfare Sunil Kumar Yadav has already been suspended. Now the recommendation for suspension of ADO Social Welfare Bhanu Pratap of three blocks Bansdih, Revati and Beruarbari and Hostel Superintendent and counter in-charge Ravindra Gupta of Social Welfare Department has also been sent to the government.
