12 arrested in Visva-Bharati foreign student kidnapping case, student found near Bengal-Odisha border

Bolpur, Mukesh Tiwari: Bolpur police station has arrested a total of twelve people, including three kidnappers, from Dubrajpur in the kidnapping case of a foreign student of the final year Sanskrit PhD of Visva-Bharati. Birbhum District Superintendent of Police Rajnarayan Mukhopadhyay told the media in a press meet on Saturday that Vishwabharti ,Visva Bharati, A total of twelve people have been arrested so far in the foreign student kidnapping case. The same kidnapped student has been recovered from Talasari area of ​​Bengal-Orissa border area. SP told that the said student was kidnapped due to dues in illegal business. According to the student, he had given the outstanding amount of Rs 5.5 crore to the businessmen. Only fifty lakh rupees were outstanding. Due to which this kidnapping took place. SP said that eight of the arrested people are residents of Chandipur, Nandpur and Bhagwanpur police station areas of East Medinipur district. All of them will be brought to Bolpur on transit remand today.

Among the arrested accused, three are from Dubrajpur and one from Nanoor in Birbhum. More investigation is still going on in the case. Police said that the names of the three accused arrested from Dubrajpur are Sheikh Alauddin, Sheikh Attaullah and Sheikh Azharuddin Midya. The court has sent all three of them to jail custody. SP says that after the arrival of the remaining accused, they will be taken on remand and interrogated. SP said that the said accused have been caught due to CCTV footage and mobile location. Two cars and mobiles etc. have been seized from them. There has been cooperation from East Mednipur District Police. It is said that on Thursday, Panna Cha, a foreign student of Visva Bharati, was kidnapped by seven to eight miscreants from a rented house in Indira Palli, Bolpur.

The student had dues of only Rs 50 lakh.

After this, information about the matter was given to Visva Bharati management by a classmate of the said student. Vishwa Bharati management had registered a case of kidnapping by emailing regarding the matter. This issue came to a head after the kidnapping case of a foreign student from Myanmar came to light. Birbhum District Police, after scanning the CCTV footage of the said area regarding the case, traced the accused from the vehicle number of the kidnappers and arrested them. Police investigation revealed that the student had a loan of Rs 50 lakh.

The student was kidnapped for not paying the money. On suspicion of the incident, the police have arrested a total of twelve accused including three people from Dubrajpur. According to sources, it has been revealed that a student from Myanmar used to export hair from his country to China. And because of that business, he used to talk to the businessman of Dubrajpur East Medinipur. Apart from doing PhD in Sanskrit in Visva Bharati, the foreign student was also involved in hair business. Panna Cha had reportedly borrowed Rs 6 crore from the kidnappers for business purposes. Police said that the student was kidnapped after the money was not paid in full.

They were kidnapping the student and demanding money from him.

According to sources, during interrogation by the police, all three told that out of Rs 6 crore, Rs 50 lakh was yet to be paid to the student. Even after asking for the money back for a long time, Panna Cha did not give anything. After this the said people kidnapped him and were demanding money. As per the plan, the kidnappers came to the student’s rented house at Indirapalli in Shantiniketan on Thursday afternoon, pulled him into their car and took him away with them.

Foreign student was kidnapped in front of friend

It is alleged that the foreign student of Visva Bharati was kidnapped in front of his friend. Then on Thursday evening the news of kidnapping spread in the university. From there, a complaint was lodged in the police station by Vishwa Bharati management through mail. Bolpur police station started investigation. SP says that after coming to Bolpur the student will also be interrogated. Only then will the matter come to light clearly.
