12.28 lakh electricity consumers registered under OTS scheme in UP, achieved revenue of more than one thousand crores

Lucknow News: The first phase of the One Time Solution Scheme (OTS) launched to provide exemption in surcharge to the electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh has proved to be very successful. So far, 12.28 lakh people have registered in the first phase of the scheme till 7.30 pm on 27 November 2023. At the same time, revenue of more than one thousand crore rupees has been received. After receiving such a huge amount, the officials of the electricity department are also excited. The first phase of the scheme, which started from November 8, is scheduled till November 30. In this way, the last two days are left to get 100 percent exemption in surcharge. Energy Minister AK Sharma has appealed to the electricity consumers to register as much as possible in the first phase of the scheme to avail maximum benefits under the scheme. He said that people are also being helped by setting up camps at various places. Despite this, if any consumer has any problem, he can inform the local electricity office or on toll free number 1912.

More than one lakh consumers registered every day

A big gift has been given to the electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh on Diwali in the form of One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS), which is proving to be very successful. More than 12 lakh consumers have registered in its first 20 days. This figure is expected to be much higher by the last day of the scheme. For this, the team of electricity department is engaged in propagating the scheme by setting up camps at various places. By the end of the scheme, the graph of revenue collection of more than one thousand crore is sure to go up further. Every day more than one lakh consumers have registered on the website to avail benefits under the scheme and a revenue of Rs 97.14 crore has also been received from it.

Cases will be closed after depositing 35 percent amount

Energy Minister AK Sharma said that consumers should register to avail the benefits of the one-time settlement scheme. The sooner they register, the more benefits they will get. For the first time in the country, exemption is being given in the amount of fine in case of electricity theft. For rebate on the amount of revenue assessment, 10 percent of it will have to be deposited. As a punishment, if any consumer’s RC has been cut, then as soon as the registration in the scheme is done, the process of RC will be stopped. He said that if FIR or criminal case is registered on electricity theft, such cases will be closed by depositing 35 percent of the revenue assessment. In case of theft, 65 percent discount is being given.

Know how to take advantage of the scheme

Under the scheme, domestic consumers up to one kilowatt load and farmers will get 100 percent rebate in surcharge on full payment of dues by November 30 and 90 percent rebate on payment in 12 installments. Domestic consumers with load more than 1 kilowatt will be given 90 percent discount on full dues, 80 percent discount on payment in three installments and 70 percent discount on payment in six installments.

Commercial consumers up to three kilowatt load will get 80 percent discount on full payment, 70 percent discount on payment in three installments. Commercial consumers with load more than three kilowatts will get 60 percent discount on full payment and 50 percent discount on payment in three installments. Similarly, private institutions and industrial category consumers will get 50 percent discount on full payment and 40 percent discount on payment in installments during this period.

Two consecutive defaults not allowed

If consumers do not deposit the installments within the stipulated period, a maximum of three defaults in case of 12 installments and only one default in case of six installments will be allowed. No consumer will be allowed two consecutive defaults. Private tube well consumers will get exemption in surcharge till 31 March 2023 and all other consumers till 31 October 2023.

During this period, consumers can avail the benefit of this rebate by making direct payment of the amount payable after the rebate through UPI, Jan Seva Kendra, Vidyut Sakhi, meter reader, ration shop, any departmental cash counter and online payment on the website. Consumers can get online information about the amount payable after rebate under the scheme by visiting the website of Power Corporation. The Energy Minister said that everyone’s cooperation is needed to take the scheme to every consumer, so that everyone can take maximum benefit from it.
