Lucknow, Torrential rains in UP since two days have thrown life out of gear in central UP and Bundelkhand. Two each died in Kannauj, Unnao, one person died in Kanpur city. At the same time, a flood-like situation has developed in Mahoba. Kanpur city received 125 mm of rain in the last 20 hours. After Wednesday midnight, many roads were filled with waist-deep water. On Wednesday late night, a young man coming out of the Juhi Khalwa bridge died due to drowning. Sukhnai river has overflowed in Jhansi. A woman buried under the debris died due to the collapse of a pucca house in Sardapur village located in Saurikh area of Kannauj. On the other hand, five people died due to lightning at different places in Chopan of Sonbhadra district, while three people got scorched.
Pre monsoon rain expected in Lucknow from today
The south-west monsoon has entered the state via Ballia. In Lucknow too, there is every possibility of entry of monsoon with a bang within three-four days. On the other hand, the effect of Biparjoy storm is over in the state. After good rains on Tuesday and Wednesday, there was respite from the heat with intermittent cloud cover on Thursday. The Meteorological Department is telling that there is a possibility of rain at many places under pre-monsoon activity from Friday. On the other hand, till June 28, light to normal rains are expected to continue in the state. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rains at one or two places. There has been heavy rain in some areas of western UP.

An alert has been issued for heavy rain with thunder and lightning in UP. Lucknow Meteorological Center scientist Danish Ali has warned of heavy rains in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh in the next five days. Yellow alert has been issued in western Uttar Pradesh on June 23 and 24. There is a yellow alert in Eastern UP on 23 June. There is an Orange Alert on 24 June. According to Mohammad Danish, senior scientist of Lucknow Meteorological Center, the monsoon is being monitored every moment. Yellow and Orange alert has been issued till June 26 in entire Uttar Pradesh. Yellow alert and orange alert means warning of heavy rain.
