He said that the department has provided a total of 23.07 lakh new job cards to laborers in different districts of the state in the last one year. Also, under the provisions of MNREGA, instructions have been given to provide employment under the scheme to the job seekers within 15 days of the demand and for not doing so, fine will be imposed on the concerned government officials.

1.26 crore people got employment in 2022-23

Minister Shravan Kumar said that under this scheme, the government provided employment to 1.26 crore job card holders in the year 2022-23. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 was earlier known as National Rural Employment Guarantee Act or NREGA.
